2014 Vulnerability Assessment Program Risk Assessment
By Eric Reddeck, NFFF * Everyone Goes Home Advocate, HRFSOC@cox.net
A study investigating the root causes of over 3,000 firefighter line-of-duty-deaths by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) has concluded that a vast majority of these deaths could have been prevented. NFFF & the National Fire Academy developed a model Vulnerability Assessment tool for any department that endeavors to evaluate its risk profile.
For Transportation Authority, Airport Authority, Federal, State and Local Government, Private or Industrial Fire Brigade, Contract FD…Vulnerability Assessment Program (VAP) — http://www.everyonegoeshome.com/VAP/. The self-assessment tool, which is interactive and available online, will provide fire departments (their fire chiefs, fire officers, and safety teams) with a systematic process to evaluate their community risks and resource capabilities, including health and safety programs, and identify areas of vulnerability to historically predictable and preventable risk.
